The terms.

1. Who we are

Prodigal (“Prodigal,” “we,” “us,” “our”) is operated by Prodigal - The Way Back LLC, a Texas limited liability company. These Terms govern your use of the Prodigal website, web app, and mobile applications (together, the “Service”), available at www.theprodigalapp.com and through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using Prodigal, you confirm you meet this requirement. The Service is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

3. What Prodigal is, and what it isn’t

Prodigal is an educational and behavioral-support tool. It combines content-blocking features with an audio program adapted from published, peer-reviewed behavioral methods, presented within a Christian framework.

Prodigal is not therapy, counseling, or medical treatment, and using it is not a substitute for care from a licensed counselor, physician, or member of clergy. We do not diagnose, treat, or promise any specific outcome. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). This resource is always free and is never limited by your subscription status.

4. Your account

You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, at support@theprodigalapp.com, or navigate to our Contact Us page on the footer of our marketing site or in the options within the app.

Prodigal operates on a one-account-one-role basis: an account is either a user account or a sponsor/admin account, not both.

5. Subscriptions and billing

• The Road: $7.99/month, 7-day free trial
• The Guide: $12.99/month, 7-day free trial
• The Anchor: $180 one-time payment, no recurring billing

Monthly subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can cancel at any time from within the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Canceling or a lapsed payment will not immediately disable content-blocking features already active on your device. Those are governed separately by the blocking and vow mechanism described in the app, not by billing status alone. [Confirm this matches the actual grace period / fail-closed behavior once implemented, so this clause is accurate rather than aspirational.]

6. Content-blocking features

Prodigal includes optional device-level content-blocking (Android VPN-based filtering; iOS Screen Time / Family Controls–based restrictions). You control activation and configuration of these features. On iOS in particular, the operating system always allows a device owner to remove these restrictions through system settings. Prodigal is designed to add meaningful friction and a moment of reflection, not to make removal technically impossible. We do not represent that blocking is unbypassable on any platform.

7. Your content

Vow recordings, journal entries, and related reflective content you create are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers. We do not have access to this content and cannot recover it if you lose or replace your device. You retain ownership of anything you create in the app. By using the Service you’re not granting us a license to use your vow, journal, or reflection content, because we never receive it in the first place.

8. Sponsor and admin accounts

If someone sponsors your account, they pay for it and nothing else. They cannot see your session progress, what you have listened to, your vow recordings, your journal entries, or whether you have opened the app at all. None of that is transmitted anywhere a sponsor account could reach it.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the blocking or security features of the Service for another user’s account; reverse-engineer or resell the Service; or use the Service in a way that could harm minors.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that blocking features will prevent access to all objectionable content, that the audio program will produce any particular result, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Prodigal - The Way Back LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. [This clause and any liability cap amount need attorney review. This is a placeholder, not a negotiated limit.]

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above; continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. [Add venue/jurisdiction and, if you want one, an arbitration clause. Attorney call.]
