What Prodigal is. A self-help program for adults who want to stop using pornography. It pairs content blocking on your device with 90 days of guided audio sessions, written from a Christian perspective.
What it’s based on. The sessions adapt techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach studied in published research, including for problematic pornography use, and draw on published Christian teaching about overcoming pornography. Prodigal itself has not been clinically tested, and results vary from person to person.
Who it’s for. Adults 18 and over.
What it isn’t. Prodigal is not medical or mental health treatment, therapy, or diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for care from a licensed professional. No blocker catches everything.
Risks. The sessions ask you to face urges and difficult feelings, which can be uncomfortable. If you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, or compulsive behavior, work with a professional alongside Prodigal.
If you’re in crisis. If you’re thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Inside the app, Lifeline is on every screen and works without a plan or a connection.
